William Hammett, Independent Ghostwriter and Editor

William Hammett

"A Leading Independent Ghostwriter of Fiction and Nonfiction for Over Ten Years"

... your dream ... my next success storyYou’ve got a great idea for a book, but you don’t know what to do with it. Or maybe you have a rough draft collecting dust and you want to make it shine. I can put energy and style into your ideas and give you the book you feel compelled to see in print. I can turn your dream into a well-crafted manuscript that you'll be proud to submit to editors and agents, thus taking you to the next level in your quest for publication. If you would like to be my next success story, make yourself comfortable and browse the site. But first, let me tell you a little about myself.

I have over twenty-five years of experience writing and editing full-length manuscripts. During that time, my work was shaped by some of the most influential agents, editors, and twenty-five years of experiencestaff at Simon and Schuster, Macmillan, Oxford University Press, Scholastic Press, McIntosh and Otis, and others.

I know the literary marketplace and publishing. I know how and why books make it into bookstores. If we work together, my goal is to produce a polished manuscript that is far superior to what you are likely to get from similar services. In addition to reviews from smaller publications around the country, some of my clients have been reviewed or interviewed by the following:

  • Publishers Weekly
  • Midwest Book Review
  • PBS
  • National Public Radio
  • The Wall Street Journal
  • The New York Times
  • The New York Post
  • The Washington Post
  • The Los Angeles Times
  • The Atlanta Journal Constitution

I have worked for celebrities, first-time authors, Hollywood directors, movie producers, doctors, sportsmen, educators, academics, motivational speakers, headline-makers, housewives, retirees, businessmen and women – people from all walks of life. (Please review my Writing/Editing Credits page to see a small sampling of the work I've done for clients, as well as books written under my own name.)

If you have a compelling idea, then I want to hear about it. Too many great stories fall through the cracks and are never published, but I will stand behind your project one-hundred-and-ten percent. that all-important personal touchI don't just take materials and copy or transcribe them (which many ghostwriting firms and companies do). I listen to what you have to say before I type a single word!

Finally, let me assure you that I work only for you. I am not a corporation that subcontracts the work to freelancers across the country. If you are looking for that personal touch in creating a professional manuscript, hire a writer, not a company. I deal in quality – not volume. I will be with you every word of the way, and you will not have to deal with secretaries and sales representatives.
